Yarm Parish Church choir

The Church has had a robed choir singing in four parts for many years. The choir master is Mr John Bancroft. We are affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), and we try to join with other choirs in joint events when we can.

Our role is to enhance the worship at St Mary Magdalene and we sing every Sunday at the 10am Sung Eucharist and at other special services. The choir is complemented by our organist Mr Brian Trenholm. We are available to sing at weddings on request, and arrangements can be made during Office Hour on Thursdays at 7–8pm, or after the 10am Sunday service. Brian and John will be only too pleased to go through your requests for hymns and voluntaries.

The Choir currently has 16 members, including three children, and we rehearse on Thursdays in Church, for an hour, starting at 7pm. We welcome new members – if you are interested in joining just come along to one of our rehearsals or e-mail choir@yarmchurch.co.uk

On the right are four pieces played by our church organist, Brian Trenholm, popular with couples who are getting married at St Mary Magdalene. The Bride often enters to the Bridal March by Wagner but an alternative is the Haydn St Anthony Chorale. During registration the Choir are pleased to sing and Brian will play a choice like Panis Angelicus by Cesar Franck. A favourite for the newly married bride and groom to walk down the aisle together is the Wedding March by Mendelssohn but you might like to try something unusual like spring from The Four Seasons.
