Yarm Parish Church choir
The Church has had a robed choir singing in four parts for many years. The choir master is Mr John Bancroft. We are affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM), and we try to join with other choirs in joint events when we can.
Our role is to enhance the worship at St Mary Magdalene and we sing every Sunday at the 10am Sung Eucharist and at other special services. The choir is complemented by our organist Mr Brian Trenholm. We are available to sing at weddings on request,
and arrangements can be made during Office Hour on Thursdays at 78pm, or after the 10am Sunday service. Brian and John will be only too pleased to go through your requests for hymns and voluntaries.
The Choir currently has 16 members, including three children, and we rehearse on Thursdays in Church, for an hour, starting at 7pm. We welcome new members if you are interested in joining just come along to one of our rehearsals
or e-mail choir@yarmchurch.co.uk
The most popular music chosen by couples who are getting married at St Mary Magdalene are "The Bridal March" by Wagner during the entry of the bride and the "Wedding March" by Mendelssohn as the newly married bride and groom walk down the aisle together. However other alternatives are available
from our organist's repertoire.
- Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel
- Prelude from 'Te Deum' by Charpentier
- Trumpet Voluntary by Clarke
During registration the choir are very pleased to sing and Brian can play some music such as
These four pieces played by our church organist, Brian Trenholm, can be heard by clicking on the music player on the right.
