Yarm Parish Church Mothers' Union

There has been a Mothers' Union branch at St Mary Magdalene's for over 80 years. Our banner, of which we are very proud, is kept in the chancel and taken to Diocesan and Deanery events. The present banner is relatively new, but incorporates some of the old banner; it was dedicated in 1998.

We currently hold two meetings each month. The Afternoon group meet on the last Monday of the month (except Bank Holidays), at 2pm, in the church. We usually have a short service or prayers, followed by a speaker; we finish with tea and scones. The Evening group meet on the third Wednesday of each month – in church during the summer and in various members' homes during the winter. We do not have speakers at this meeting, but have more of a discussion group. During the last year we have discussed 'Women of the Bible', which has been very interesting and well-received by all.

We support all church activities, sidespersons, readers, intercessors, we help with the Sunday Morning Club, and the Craft Guild. We also support all Diocesan and Deanery meetings and events.
